Student Guidelines
Class Etiquette:
We expect all of our students to behave in a manner conducive to a learning environment. Any student who is disruptive and refuses to alter their behavior will be sent from the classroom and their parents will be called. Any students arriving late for class must ask permission from the Instructor to join the class. ABSOLUTELY no food, GUM, or drink other than water in a screw top container is allowed in the classroom. We hope you will support our policy that your child is in dance class to learn and not to socialize. Sometimes it is necessary to separate “best friends” in the classroom to allow each child to develop properly. Schedule Changes: Any student requiring a schedule change must do so by filling out the required form available at the front desk. All forms must be approved by director. This policy applies to adding or dropping classes. Until the proper paperwork has been completed, you are RESPONSIBLE FOR TUITION PAYMENTS as designated. Failure to attend a class does not absolve you of payments due. Class Completion: All children (and even adults at times) express a desire not to go to class on some days. Holidays and late spring are prime times for this complaint. It is important for parents to acknowledge these feelings but to also help their child to learn the importance of task completion and follow through. This is a lifetime skill that will be invaluable as they grow and mature. The option of whether or not to attend class, for which they made a commitment, should not be left up to a young child. They have a responsibility to the other students and to the teacher to be present in the classroom each week. Observation: Both studios have observation windows that are open year round. However, if students become distracted by those outside, the teacher reserves the right to shut the blinds at any time. Parents in hallways should remember that classes are in session and that voices should be kept low. Other children in our hallways should also exhibit appropriate behavior and remain quiet. FOOD AND DRINK are only allowed in the front reception area, not in back hallways or restroom. Please help us to keep our studio “crumb free” by following this rule. Class Placement: Every effort will be made to place your child in the class appropriate for their age and ability. It is not always possible to place a child with their “age group” if the level of experience is too different. A frustrated child will often want to quit a class that is too difficult. Learning at the proper level is the key to success. Often, a student will quickly catch up to their peers if they have the support and encouragement of their parents. Holidays: We observe ALL MAJOR VISD School holidays including: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Spring Break. We DO have classes on Teacher In-service Days. If school is Cancelled due to Bad Weather, we will also be Closed for those days. Student Recital: All students enrolled will have an opportunity to perform at our annual student concert at the end of the year in May. A recital fee is due in October and costumes are ordered in EARLY January. Withdrawal: If it is necessary to withdraw from the school, please notify the front desk and complete a withdrawal form. Absences: Please call the studio and notify us if your child must miss a class. You may make up any missed classes, but please do so as soon after the absence as possible. Class Progress: Any questions concerning a students progress should first be addressed to the instructor and then to the director if necessary. Please call to schedule an appointment. We are very concerned about each student’s progress and desire to have open communication with our parents. |
